National Trust, West Midlands
The National Trust is well known for holding amazing family events throughout the whole year and Christmas is absolutely no different. With many venues across the whole of the West Midlands you’re sure to find one local to you with something special for the festive season.
Midlands attractions will be holding everything from Christmas markets to festive craft days and exciting Santa visits. Wightwick Manor in Wolverhampton has slots available for Santa visits on select days during December. Slots need to be booked in advance, cost £15 and includes a gift.
Calke Abbey in Derbyshire is holding Christmas Markets every weekend in December and breakfast with Santa events for the little ones plus they has the most amazing illuminated trail. Shugborough Hall in Staffordshire will be decorating the estate as usual and has another excellent illuminated light trail. And the brilliant Back to Backs in Birmingham are holding their annual Carols in the courtyard event.
The Polar Express, Birmingham
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 24th November until the 23rd December
In my opinion, this is the best Santa Train encounter in the West Midlands. The Polar Express experience is an interactive and immersive experience based on the popular movie.
Departing from Moor Street Train station between the 24th November and the 23rd December, your ticket price includes refreshments on the train, live entertainment from all your favourite characters and a visit from a jolly Santa Claus delivering a gift for every good boy and girl. So pull on your PJs and jump on board!
SnowDome, Tamworth
18th November – 7th January
This holiday season Santa will be coming back to Tamworth’s SnowDome. The annual Winter Wonderland event promises to be bigger and brighter than ever before. Get the kids ready for some serious holiday fun and don’t worry about the weather (the event will be indoors).
The entertainment centre has prepared lots of activities for both kids and grownups: lots of real snow, real animals, workshops, games, and other surprises. The best part of your visit is that toddlers can meet Santa backstage; they can help with the gift wrapping, sort out mail, and have a lot of fun with the elves. Alton Towers Theme Park
24th November – 23rd December
Throughout the holiday season, Alton Towers is holding Santa Sleepovers for its special guests. This means you have a unique opportunity to spend Christmas with your loved ones in a location where the festive fun is guaranteed. Holiday packages include accommodation, a day at the waterpark, breakfast buffet, a Christmas carvery, lots of entertainment in the evening such as the amazing panto, and obviously, a meeting with Santa at his magical grotto. Packages are booking fast, so you might want to hurry up and secure your stay.
If you don’t fancy sleeping over, there are plenty of other fun and festive activities at Alton Towers this year.
Selfridges, Birmingham
2nd December – 19th December
For an exciting Santa visit whilst you finish your all important shopping, why not book yourself breakfast with Santa at it’s beautifully decorated store in the Bullring. Breakfast with Santa at Sefridges takes place in Fumo restaurant between 9 and 11am. You’ll receive a gift for your family and enjoy a delicious festive breakfast. Tickets are £35. It really is a fabulous place for breakfast with Santa West Midlands.
From the 19th November they also have an instore postbox where you can post your letters to Santa. The last posting date is the 4th December. Santa and his elves will be roaming the store on weekends in December and live DJs playing xmas music whist you browse. Have a look at everything that’s available on their website.
Local Garden Centres
Garden Centres around the Midlands sure know how to wow their visitors around the holiday season. The festive ambience, the activities, ice rinks and Santa’s grotto are just a few of the things families with kids can try out upon arrival.
The Holybush Garden centre in Wolverhampton is offering brunch with santa everyday in December. Kids will receive a gift from one of his friendly helpers and your ticket includes entrance to the soft play. Visits are £12.95 per child.
Or you could try Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold which has a lovely Neverland themed light trail. Tickets are just £10 for kids. It’s running from 17th November until 3rd January 2021. Adult visits are £16 and kids are £10.
National Sea Life Centre
25th November – 24th December
For sea creature fans this Christmas, we thought about another amazing place to visit Santa West Midlands. He can also be spotted at the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. What we love most about this place is the underwater Christmas tree. The 360-degree ocean tunnel is brought to life around the holidays. The decorations, festive ambience, and 4D cinema will give your kids that merry Christmas they’ve always wanted.
Santa is sitting comfortably in his Antarctic grotto. Safeguarded by penguins, he cannot wait to meet with the kids, tell them stories, and offer them the best gifts for good behaviour. Tickets for Santa’s grotto are an £8.50 per child. The Christmas event at the Sea Life Centre runs from 25th November and runs until the 24th December 2023.
Hawkstone Park
1st December – 23rd December
Hawkstone Park Follies has something special planned for its guests – a Santa safari. Yes, that’s right. Upon arrival, all guests check in and receive a warm festive welcome and a drink at the café. After that, get on a Land Rover and let the adventure begin! Families are taken to see the park and explore the hills. Kids are entertained by Santa’s elves, and the fairy-lit tunnels and caverns will make the safari experience even merrier. Meet with Santa’s loyal reindeer and enjoy surrounding woodland fantasy. A twilight ride for 6 people is around £150. This really is one of the best places to see Santa West Midlands has for adventure seekers.
We love Christmas, don’t we? However, we can’t rarely feel the merry atmosphere without Santa’s presence. In the West Midlands, Father Christmas cannot wait to meet with the kids. It’s that time of the year when families spend quality time together, sing carols, play in the snow, and enjoy delicious meals.
