One of the most popular islands to visit in Thailand with kids is Phuket. It’s one of the largest and also one of the most touristy. This is not necessarily a bad thing, the more touristy a place, the more family friendly attractions there are. This is exactly the case when it comes to hotels. Phuket has heaps of excellent family friendly hotels to suit all ages and budgets. We’ve stayed at several all over the island. From my experience, these are the best family resorts in Phuket for your next visit.

How I’ve calculated pricing of these best family resorts in Phuket
To give you a general idea of pricing I’ve included pound signs next to each hotel. I’ve looked at 7 days in July next year for 3 people. Weather at this time of year is pretty middling. It’s hot and typically tropical. Short downpours followed by plenty of sun. It’s not as busy as December or January so no crowds and you can get fairly good prices for luxury resorts and Phuket activities will be less busy. £ means under £200 per night, ££ is between £200 and £300 and £££ is anything over £300. These prices will go up and down depending on when you book.

It’s around 30 minutes drive to Phuket International airport and 20 minutes to Bang Tao which has a slightly busier vibe. The hotel actually offers a shuttle service in to Bang Tao but a taxi or tuk tuk wont be expensive.
Angsana Laguna Phuket £
The Angsana Laguna really does put families first, providing a Phuket resort with enough activities to keep you entertained for days. Again located on Bang Tao beach surrounded by other gorgeous 5 star hotels it’s the perfect place for a tropical escape. The Angsana is another massive resort that provides golf buggies to get you around the hotel.

Avani + Mai Khao ££
Recently launched Avani + Mai Khao is located on gorgeous Mai Khao beach. Surrounded by tropical greenery and elegant palm trees, the resort is a welcoming oasis with all the 5 star amenities you could hope for.

Kids will love splashing about in the resorts lagoon pool which has a sandy section and shallow area for little ones. Kids can use the swim up bar for soft drinks (or cocktails for the grown ups) and the pool holds poolside cinema sessions where kids can enjoy the movie whilst bobbing on the water in rubber rings.
Restaurants at the hotel are also super kid friendly. There’s a very trendy seafood shack for casual dining and a great burger joint if they’re craving something they recognise from home.
The resort has suites and villas to suit all family sizes. The suites are gorgeous and plenty spavious but the villas are an absolute treat! Some of the kids rooms in the villas are decorated in princess style or with a disney theme. Little ones will love it!

Set on the 11km stretch of sand that is Mai Khao beach, the Avani + is located to the North of Phuket island. You’ll reach the beach by walking through the neighbouring Anantara resort. Across the road you’ll find the turtle shopping complex with a mini mart, a couple of restaurants and souvenir stalls. Although there’s not much else within walking distance. Stunning Nai Yang beach is just 20 minutes down the road.
The Avani + is only a 15 minute drive from the airport so it’s super easy to get to. Should you want a bit more activity, Kamala and Kata are about 45 minutes away.
Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort ££
Another Pullman hotel to make it onto my list of the best family hotels in Phuket is the Pullman Panwa Beach. Located on the Southern tip of the island, this is another one to visit to escape the crowds. The uninterrupted views from this hotel are some of my favourite on the island.
Special features for kids at the Pullman Panwa Beach
The beach in front of the hotel is perfect for little kids as the waves are very gentle. Hotels guests can borrow kayaks and paddle boards to explore the water. If your kids prefer pools to the sea, there are 3 at the Pullman, one is specifically for kids which has a water slide.
The hotel is very focussed on Marine conservation and supporting sustainable tourism. The onsite marine biologist holds daily talks and workshops. Or you can take part in a guided Marine Walk through the underwater seagrass garden. For land based activities there’s a pool table, outdoor play area and giant chess.
Kids will appreciate that there are plenty of Western options in the restaurants. Burgers round the pool will go down a treat and the pasta in the main restaurant is exceptional.
The Kids club at the Pullman Panwa Beach Resort
The Sapparot Kids Club organises plenty of activities to keep your little ones entertained. They have umbrella painting, dancing, role play, batik painting, pizza making and Thai writing. The kids club is open between 9am – 7 pm for kids aged 4 – 14.
Where is the Pullman Phuket Panwa located in Phuket
Cape Panwa is a sleepy little peninsular in Southern Phuket. There are a few restaurants and bars within walking distance of the hotel but apart from an aquarium and the Panwa viewpoint, there’s very little else. These mainly close at 10pm so the whole area feels very quiet. The hotel is located It’s just 20 minutes into thriving Phuket Town.
It will probably take over an hour to reach from the airport when you arrive. This is a good hotel to pick if you’re planning on staying in a couple of different parts of Phuket.
Movenpick Myth Hotel Patong £
Located in the heart of busy Patong, the Movenpick Myth hotel is a large, bright resort with all the amenities you’d expect from a 5 star hotel in Thailand. It has an excellent spa, massive freeform swimming pool and an excellent onsite restaurant.
Special features for kids at the Movenpick Myth in Phuket
This is a good option if you’re planning on spending most of your time exploring the island. The hotel doesn’t offer many activities as there is so much to do around it. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad place to stay, the rooms are fabulous, many of them plenty big enough to suit families and some that open out directly into the pool.
The kids club at the Movenpick Myth Patong
The Little Birds Club at the Movenpick Myth Patong is a bright and friendly area for little ones. They have several organised activities which include ballon art, doll painting and mask making. Some of which have an additional charge.
Where is the Movenpick Myth located in Phuket
Patong is probably the busiest part of Phuket and you’ll either love it or hate it. Being a super popular touristy destination means there’s plenty to do with markets, malls, beach clubs and kids activities readily available but it definitely does not come with that tropical beach vibe you can find elsewhere on the island.
The hotel offers a tuk tuk service to nearby Patong beach and shopping malls although these are easily within walking distance.
Traffic means it can take up to an hour from the airport.
Whilst this list in no way covers all of the best family resorts in Phuket, they are my personal favourites and I would happily stay at any one of them.
