Fabulous Family Hotels in Vilamoura

Are you looking for family hotels in Vilamoura? You’ve come to the right place! Vilamoura is a great place to stay in the Algarve with kids. It’s less than half an hours drive from Faro Airport meaning no tiresome transfer times. There’s plenty to entertain all ages in Vilamoura, heaps of great restaurants and miles of beautiful beaches.

You’ll also find some excellent family friendly hotels in Vilamoura. Here are my favourites, most of them are within easy walking distance to the beach and Marina. I’ve included the cost for a family of four in the October half term holidays so you can get an idea of prices differences. These prices will obviously rise substantially during the school summer holidays and drop off in September. For me the October half term is a great time to visit the Algarve and you can often secure great deals at these hotels.

Tivoli Marina Hotel

Impossible to miss, overlooking the Vilamoura marina is the fabulous Tivoli Marina Hotel. Perfectly located between Vilamoura’s sandy beach and its luxury yacht filled marina the hotel is nine floors of absolute luxury. The hotel is home to eight restaurants and bars including an excellent boutique cafe with sweet treats the kids will love.

There are rooms to accommodate all family sizes with comfy sofa beds for little ones. The suites are particularly opulent with separate areas and large balconies so you can get the kids to sleep and enjoy a drink soaking in the views. Decor is bright and modern without being particularly pretentious. And if the grown ups can find some time to themselves the hotel is home to a wonderful onsite spa.

Although the main pool area gets pretty busy with family groups during the day, this is not a hotel with endless entertainment options – no holiday reps encouraging the kids to attend a magic show. But if you are looking for lively evenings there is always something going on in Vilamoura Marina, a short stroll away.

What makes the Tivoli Marina great for kids

The Tivoli hotel is home to an excellent kids club which is open during the peak season. They offer many organised activities for small kids all the way up to teenagers. Kids can swim in their very own hotel pool or enjoy playing on the outdoor play area. Many of the hotel restaurants offer kids menus to keep even the pickiest of eaters happy.

Domes Lake Algarve

Another fantastic five star hotel in Vilamoura to visit with kids is the Domes Lake Algarve. Located a stones throw from Falesia Beach this hotel comes with it’s very own lake and is just a short stroll to Vilamoura Marina. The luxury feel is mirrored by the modern design with some charming rustic touches.

The amazing spa has a heated indoor pool and Roman baths. If you’re visiting out of season, one of the outdoor pools is heated. The hotel is home to three restaurants and three bars, one of which is floating on the Lake! A real bucket list experience.

What makes the Domes Lake Algarve great for kids.

Domes Lake really is one of the best family hotels in Vilamoura, they really focus on keeping the kids entertained. The hotel has two excellent onsite kids clubs, one for 4 months to 4 years and the other for kids up to 12. They organise various craft activities and games and can try golf or tennis with the hotels pro once a week for free. Rather brilliantly the hotel has recently introduced a KiEPOS garden where where kids can plant, grow and harvest various crops whilst learning about sustainability and our impact on the environment. Kids will also love that you can hire bikes to explore the surrounding area or have a game of football, basket ball or tennis or even explore the lake on a kayak.

Vila Galé Ampalius hotel

Located just steps from Vilamoura Marina and beach is the gorgeous Vila Galé Ampalius hotel. Another towering family hotel with great views out to sea. The Vila Gale Ampalius has outdoor pools, tennis courts, a games room and excellent Spa. Its two restaurants will ensure you never go hungry including a brilliant Portuguese option so you can try the flavours of the local area. The pool bar is another popular option which is open between April ad October. This hotel is pretty close to the casino if that’s your thing!

Dom Pedro Vilamoura

If you fancy somewhere super glamorous then the Dom Pedro hotel in Vilamoura is a good option. Again located overlooking the beach, right next to the marina this hotel is probably better suited to older kids. Not only does it offer excellent Atlantic views but also plenty of lush green spaces to explore. The Dom Pedro has two outdoor pools and the amazing Aquae spa with a heated indoor pool.

The Buzios beach club restaurant is an excellent place for lunch overlooking sandy Vilamoura beach or for an evening drink as you watch the sun set. You can keep an eye on the kids building sandcastles or digging for shells whilst you enjoy a freshly cooked meal. Hotel residents can use the beach beds and umbrellas or hire kayaks and paddlesports for some fun in the sea.

What will kids love at the Dom Pedro Vilamoura?

Whilst there isn’t actually a kids club at this hotel, there’s still plenty to entertain the kids. As well as being super close to the beach there’s a kids playground, ping pong, tennis courts, volley ball and football.

This hotel is more suited for families of three – opt for a triple room. Otherwise you’ll need to book two rooms which will not necessarily be connecting.

Crowne Plaza Vilamoura

Yet another humungous hotel overlooking the sea is the 5 star Crowne Plaza Vilamoura. It’s just a stones throw from the beach with a sea facing outdoor pool (with an indoor pool in the Spa) and some excellent restaurants. They have a variety of room sizes sleeping up to three people, all tastefully decorated with private balconies

The Crowne Plaza is located right next to the Casino in Vilamoura. I have read some reviews that this can make it a little noisy at night but we didn’t feel it was a problem.

Why is the Crowne Plaza one of the best family hotels in Vilamoura

The Crowne Plaza is another popular choice with families in Vilamoura. The pirate ship themed kids play area is guaranteed to keep little kids entertained and the Peter Pan kids club is a fun, safe space to drop them off if you fancy popping to the spa.

Adriana Beach Resort

For somewhere a little further out but still within walking distance to Vilamoura (an hour along Falesia Beach) then it’s worth considering the Adriana Beach Resort. This is a super family friendly all inclusive hotel and being a little further out means it’s a bit more economical than those above.

Small pool area at Adriana beach hotel Albufeira. It is curved and empty

It has three pools, three restaurants (one of which is A La Carte and a constant stream of entertainment options for all ages.

Why will kids love the Adriana Beach Resort

I think all kids love an all inclusive, ice cream on tap is guaranteed to please even the grumpiest of kids. Plus there’s so much for kids to do at the Adriana. They have archery, tennis, aqua gym, outdoor circuits, an onsite veggie patch, a kids club and nightly family friendly entertainment.

Apartment Rentals in Vilamoura

If you would prefer your own space or are a larger family that struggles to get hotel rooms to fit then a family friendly apartment in Vilamoura might be your best bet. We often book rentals rather than hotels as they often come out much cheaper and give us the flexibility to prepare our own food and the space to put the kids to bed whilst we can chat or listen to music without disturbing them. I loved the Apartmento Clube Nautica located on the Falesia Beach side of Vilamoura. It has two bedrooms plus additional sofa beds and an easy walk to both the beach and marina. Plus it’s currently only £533 for the October half term.
