Before you dig into this specific list of the best family hotels Koh Samui you might want to have a read of my article on the best areas in Koh Samui for families to get an idea of the layout of the island.
I like a bit of luxury when traveling and Koh Samui is an extremely luxurious island. These hotels are mainly top end with design and features that will appeal to adults as much as children. I tend to book hotels in Asia via Agoda as it is mainly the cheapest option. I’ve also linked to Booking.com so you can compare prices and to tripadvisor which shows prices for lots of different websites.

To give you a general idea of pricing I’ve included pound signs next to each hotel. I’ve looked at 7 days in April next year for 3 people. This is shoulder season in Koh Samui so prices can be higher or lower. £ means under £200 per night, ££ is between £200 and £300 and £££ is anything over £300.
Conrad Koh Samui £££
Perched on a gently sloping hillside, the Conrad hotel in Koh Samui is the ultimate in luxury accommodation. It’s location means the uninterrupted sea views and breathtaking sunsets will blow you away and the impeccable service will make you feel like royalty.
Special features for kids at the Conrad Koh Samui
The Conrad runs a Little Explorers Academy for children and they are fully welcomed at the hotel. They can get involved with arts and crafts activities, make pizzas at Azure restaurant and even feed the onsite goats and rabbits.
Kids will love that the Conrad has it’s very own farm and they take local produce very seriously. They grow a lot of produce which will end up on your plate, they churn their own butter, bake their own pastries, rear their own chickens and smoke their own salmon. It’s a great place for little ones to learn about where the food they eat comes from as they can visit the hotels farm which is called Iris.

Guests can rent paddle boards and kayaks for free and the hotel has plenty of life jackets and sandshoes to keep little ones safe. Older kids will love the beach volleyball sessions, Muay Thai and free yoga classes. If you fancy escaping Koh Samui, the Conrad can organise tours to Koh Madsum which is Thailand’s pig island.
Kids will not go hungry when staying at the Conrad in Koh Samui. Breakfast is sure to be a highlight of their stay, especially the pancake station and “make your own smoothie” area which is powered by a pedal bike!
Being on a hill you’ll mainly get around the resort on the back of a buggy, another quirky feature the kids will love.
Each villa has its own infinity pool with fabulous views. It’s great to have a private space for the kids to splash about but never leave them out alone. The main infinity pool overlooks the beach and is a great place for kids to make friends.

The kids club at the Conrad
The kids club at the Conrad is called the turtle club. It’s open from 10am until 6pm for kids aged between 4 and 12 and is free for guests to use. If you want childcare after it closes then the hotel can organise a babysitter for you for an extra charge. They organise fun activities such as treasure hunts, water polo, Thai dancing classes and painting. You can check out the kids club schedule here.
Where is the Conrad located
The Conrad is located in the super quiet area of Taling Ngam, on the southwestern tip of Koh Samui. Home to the cutest beach shacks, a handful of local restaurants and very little else. This is an area of total escape, not heaps of family friendly activities or party nights. I love that, but you’ll need a car or driver if you want to get to the busier parts of the island. It will take you around an hour to reach from the airport.
Hyatt Regency Koh Samui £
This gorgeous, modern hotel is deceptively child friendly with a huge range of kids activities and facilities available to ensure the whole family enjoys their stay. It only opened in 2021 so still feels incredibly fresh and new.
Special features for kids at the Hyatt Koh Samui
Kids are absolutely spoilt at the Hyatt Regency in Koh Samui. If you book into a family suite or villa, kids under 12 will be treated to an in room teepee stuffed full of toys, unlimited sweets, a complimentary activity at the kids club and movie nights. You can find more information on what is included here.

The Hyatt Regency has 5 pools in total, one which is specifically for kids with a slide. Kids can try yoga, Thai boxing, snorkelling and kayaking for free. This family friendly hotel in Koh Samui even has a cooking garden where you can pick fresh ingredients to sample or take part in a cooking class.
The hotel can provide extra beds and cots, they also have several interconnecting rooms if your kids are a bit older. And if you’re traveling with teens, they’ll absolutely love the “gallery of 8” which are eight locations around the hotel which are particularly photogenic. Perfect for their social selfies!
The kids club at the Hyatt Regency
Camp Hyatt is a brilliant little kids club which is sectioned off into specific areas for all your kids needs. There’s space for arts and crafts, for active play, for learning and tech and for resting. There’s also a brilliant onsite kids playground. Kids under 3 must be supervised but a babysitter can be booked if necessary. Camp Hyatt is open between 9am and 6 pm and is for children up to 12 years old.
Where is the Hyatt Regency located
Located at the Northern end of busy Chaweng the Hyatt Regency is bordered by it’s own small but semi private beach. The hotel is in a lovely quiet spot but is less than 15 minutes to busier parts of town and plenty of nightlife. It’s less than a ten minute drive to the airport so this is a good one if you don’t have long on the island.
Belmond Napasai £££
Stepping into the Belmond Napasai feels like stepping into a rather pristine jungle. The grounds and gardens are impeccably maintained and it all feels incredibly peaceful. Unlike many of the other international 5 star hotels that have made it onto this list of the best family hotels Koh Samui, the Belmond Napasai is very Thai by design but still has all the modern amenities you would expect.
Special features for kids at the Belmond Napasai Koh Samui
The hotel provides complimentary bikes you can use to explore the grounds. Or if you prefer to get on the water they have kayaks, stand up paddleboards and hobie cats. In fact this is the perfect hotel to stay at with sporty kids. They have tennis and badminton courts, a pool table, nintendo Wii station and outdoor boxing ring to practice your Muay Thai.

Kids will love exploring the colourful grounds and fragrant chefs garden. They’ll even spot the hotel’s two resident water buffaloes, goats and pigs.
Kids under 12 can get truly pampered at the spa. The hotel offers an angel bliss massage specifically for those aged between 4 and 11. It is a 45 minute gentle and calming coconut oil massage which promotes sleep quality and soothes the nervous system.
This is an all villa hotel meaning heaps of space for the whole family. Each one has stunning sea views and an outdoor balcony area.

The kids club at the Belmond Napasai
The Belmond Napasai does not have an actual kids club where children can be left for a few hours. I would probably recommend this one for tweens and teenagers. You can book babysitting services if you need them.
Where is the Belmond Napasai Located
Located on the North of Koh Samui on Maenam Beach, the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan can be seen from it’s beach. It’s a very quiet area with an absolutely stunning stretch of sand. If you are looking for extra activities or nightlife then head to the Fishermans village in nearby Bophut.
Outrigger Koh Samui ££
I love the Outrigger hotel chain, they’re always great value, very family friendly and pristinely clean. Their property in Koh Samui is a super modern colonial style building with lovely, large rooms and a very relaxed vibe. As with most Outriggers they often have have live music and DJs to entertain all ages.
Special features for kids at the Outrigger Koh Samui
The onsite games room is sure to be a massive hit with the kids. It has a pool table, comfy bean bags, table football and ping pong. They can also supply paddle boards and kayaks if the kids would like to get out onto the water.

The Outrigger is home to the newly opened Illusions theatre magic show which has a family friendly performance at 7pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Magic is performed close up and there is always heaps of audience participation. You can find out more on the Outrigger website.
The beach pool is always a fun packed area with kids playing ball games and whizzing down the slide. It’s also a great place to grab some food at the Edgewater club which has a menu to suit all ages. They also have fire shows and DJs performing most evenings, it’s a perfect way to end your day.
The hotel’s pool and beach is located across the road from the main hotel building. There will always be someone to help you cross but just be extra careful with little kids.
The kids club at the Outrigger
The Coral kids club is one of the best on the island. It is open from 10am until 7.30pm for kids aged 4 – 12. They offer a huge amount of free organised activities such as Beach yoga, Thai dance, language classes, craft activities and fish feeding. There are also a few paid activities to try such as Batik painting and candle making. Most evenings they offer a mini disco or movie night so there are plenty of opportunities for the grown ups to enjoy a peaceful sundowner or grab a massage in the onsite spa.

Where is the Outrigger Koh Samui located
You’ll find the Outrigger hotel on the tip of Lamai beach, it’s pretty close to one of the best viewpoints on Koh Samui, the Lamai viewpoint. The hotel is just across the road from a very quiet stretch of sand. The drive from Koh Samui airport should take around half an hour and if you’re looking for shops and restaurants it’s around a ten minute walk or short taxi ride into Lamai.
The Intercontinental Koh Samui £££
This cliff edge property was one of the earliest luxury hotels to be built on Koh Samui so it definitely has a pretty hefty reputation to live up to. It’s dramatic location on the edge of Taling Ngam beach makes it one of my favourite family hotels on Koh Samui. The impeccable service and stunning design only adds to it’s charm.
Special features for kids at the Intercontinental Koh Samui
The Intercontinental resort has a packed activity schedule, some which incur a small charge, others are completely free. They offer morning yoga sessions, pilates, tabata workouts and have bikes to borrow and kayaks and paddleboards to explore the calm waters.

Kids under the age of 6 can eat free when dining in one of the hotels restaurants with an adult. And those aged 6-12 get 50% off. The rather excellent kids menu was designed by Annabel Karmel & Theo Randall so you can rest assured it’s both tasty and nutritious.
The hotel has six beautiful pools in total, one of which is infinity edged overlooking the beach which also has a separate shallow kids pool. The other infinity pool is an adult only space to enjoy when the kids are at the kids club.
Nannies and babysitters can be booked if you require a night off once the kids club has closed or if you’re visiting with kids under 4.

The kids club at the Intercontinental
As you would expect from such a premium hotel, the Planet Trekkers kids club is absolutely excellent and has a wide range of activities available to keep everyone happy. Age groups are split into 4-7 and 8-12 to ensure activities are age appropriate. Free activities include crab hunting, nail painting, Thai weaving, eco activities and movie shows. For a small fee kids can take part in tie dye classes, model painting and tote bag design. There’s definitely no time to be bored! The kids club is open between 9am and 6pm.
Where is the Intercontinental located
The Intercontinental hotel is perched on the edge of Taling Ngam beach. It’s a very quiet part of the island so there isn’t much to do apart from enjoy the hotel and take in the stunning sunsets which are famous on this side of the island. It should take around 45 minutes to drive there from the airport.
Anantara Bophut ££
Avid readers of the blog will know how much I love the Anantara brand and have stayed at several of their properties across Thailand. Design is always stunning, they are incredibly family friendly and feel super luxurious whilst remaining completely unpretentious.
Special features for kids at the Anantara Bophut
The stunning infinity pool overlooking Bophut beach will probably be your kids favourite part of the hotel. It’s absolutely huge with plenty of water fountains to splash in, jacuzzi beds and hidden areas to explore. The adults are sure to love the swim up bar and amazing view.

When the kids first arrive they are given a treasure hunt map to help them explore the resort, it’s a really fun way for them to get their bearings and discover all the different parts of the Anantara.
Outside the kids club you’ll find a lovely little outdoor play area with a sandpit, trampoline, swings and slides. Or if you prefer to spend time on the beach, the hotel can provide kayaks and paddle boards and has some really sweet beach swings. For active kids, the hotel has tennis courts, Muay Thai classes and yoga sessions.
The kids club at the Anantara Bophut
Baan Ling Noi kids’s club is another great space you’ll struggle to drag your kids away from. It’s a bright and colourful room packed full of crafting activities, toys and squishy beanbags. The kids club is for guests aged 4-12. Under 4s can still visit as long as they are accompanied by a parent or nanny. It’s open 9am – 5pm with a break for lunch at 12. Nannies and babysitters can be hired for an additional charge outside of these hours.
Kids can take part in many fun activities and classes. They have pizza making, Thai dancing and T Shirt decorating.

Where is the Anantara Bophut located
This family friendly hotel is located right on the edge of Bophut Beach. It’s one of the most family friendly beaches on the island. Although the sand is a little coarse, there are plenty of activities available. Plus it’s only a short walk to the fishermans village and one of my favourite restaurants on Koh Samui, Coco Tams. It’s the perfect place to laze on beach beanbags and watch the fire show as the sun goes down. It’s less than twenty minutes drive from the airport to the Anantara in Bophut so another good one to pick if you don’t have long on Koh Samui.
Anantara Lawana ££
Anantara’s second family friendly hotel on Koh Samui is located in Chaweng on the North East on the island. The Sino-Thai style differentiates it from the Bophut property and it’s just as beautiful.
Special features for kids at the Anantara Lawana
Again, kids will love the main infinity pool at the Anantara Lawana. It is split out into a shallower area for kids and a larger space for swimming. Chilled towels and fruit skewers are handed round to guests regularly, another great perk!
The beach again will be popular with the kids. The sand is a bit grainy but the waves are fairly calm and shallow. You can borrow the hotels kayaks and paddle boards. The hotel also has daily Thai Chi and yoga classes to enjoy.

The Sino-Thai style villas are absolutely perfect for a family group. Family pool villas and four bed villas come with games, a Nintendo Switch and castle tent which is perfect for story time. If you fancy a date night in the hotel then qualified babysitters can be booked for a small fee.
As with the Anantara Bophut, kids will be gifted with a treasure hunt map on arrival. Once they’ve completed the hunt they can exchange their map for a small backpack and colouring equipment at reception.
The kids club at the Anantara Lawana
The Chong Noi Kids club at the Anantara Lawana is a lovely space for little ones to hang out and make friends. It has heaps of toys, crafting equipment and places to relax. The activities schedule includes kids yoga, face painting fish feeding and dance classes. They have a few activities which are chargeable, these include bracelet making and tote bag painting. The kids club is open for breakfast from 8am and shuts at 5pm. It is for kids aged 4 to 12 although those under 4 can attend with a parent or nanny.

Where is the Anantara Lawana located
Situated to the North of Chaweng beach the hotel is in a quieter part of town. There’s plenty to do within walking distance but the hotel provides an oasis of calm to escape too. It’s lush! It’s also within ten minutes drive of the Big Buddha temple which is one of the top tourist spots on the island. The airport is just a ten minute drive away, again making it perfect for a quick break.
Six Senses Koh Samui £££
Luxury hotel brand Six Senses has a stunning property in Koh Samui on the North of the island. The hotel feels like it’s in the middle of the jungle with it’s design heavily influenced by plants and wood. It’s an all villa hotel set on a steep hill offering superb views from the top and a lovely private beach at the base.
Special features for kids at the Six Senses Koh Samui
There are heaps of activities to keep the kids entertained at the Six Senses resort. They offer batik painting, soap carving, rock painting and paper folding, all achievable in just an hour. Little ones can also try kids yoga, Muay Thai, smoothie making, cooking classes and take part in games on the beach.

The hotel offers plenty of kid friendly dining options. Children under five can order from the infant menu for free and those aged 6 – 11 receive a 50% discount.
The main pool is stunning with floating netted loungers although it’s not massive. Most of the onsite villas have private pools so it will never feel too busy. The sandy bay enjoys shallow waters, perfect for a paddle (although you will need to pack water shoes as it’s a little rocky) and guests can make use of the hotels kayaks to explore the water.
Kids will also love a visit to the hotel’s “farm on the hill” which is a large part of the hotel’s sustainability push. Here they convert waste into compost, keep goats and grow produce. It’s a great space for kids to learn.

All the villas are massive so there will be plenty of space for you to spread out and let the kids play. Most have a plunge pool and huge outdoor area. Unfortunately I have read many reports that they are plagued with mosquitoes so bear that in mind when you’re packing.
The kids club at the Six Senses Hotel
The Six Senses does not have a traditional kids club although as mentioned there is heaps on offer to entertain little ones. You can hire babysitters if you need a break.
Where is the Six Senses located in Koh Samui
Located right on the Northern tip of the island, the Six Senses resort can feel a bit isolated. Although this does make for a completely relaxing escape. There aren’t really any restaurants within walking distance of the resort so you will have to get taxis or tuk tuks if you want to eat out. It’s about a twenty minute drive to Samui International Airport and a similar time to busier parts of the island like Chaweng and Bophut.
Four Seasons £££
The Four Seasons hotel is probably the most luxurious family friendly hotel on Koh Samui. As with most of the high end hotels on Koh Samui, the Four Seasons is tucked away on a hillside making it feel very exclusive. It makes full use of the natural environment so you’ll feel like you’ve landed in the middle of nowhere. It’s pretty expensive but truly is a once in a lifetime experience.
Special features for kids at the Four Seasons Koh Samui
Older kids will love the beach house which is home to air hockey, pool and table football. Plus plenty of space to relax. Non-motorised water sports such as paddle boarding and kayaking are also complimentary. There’s an open air Muay Thai boxing ring next to the gym where kids can take part is lessons exclusively for 4 – 15 year olds. Plus there are tennis courts if you can handle the heat.

The private beach at the Four Seasons is absolutely pristine with soft sand and gentle waves. There’s a 50m infinity pool on the beach if the kids don’t fancy sea swimming plus a lovely pool bar for cold drinks and snacks. The sea around the hotel is full of coral and kids can attend a “Coral Talk” delivered by the onsite marine biologist. They can then borrow snorkelling equipment to explore the reef up close.
Kids can also take a tour of the grounds with the gardening team or take part in a family cooking course on Thai cooking with the chef. Then join in a football match or game of volleyball on the beach. If they need a chance to relax the spa has treatments available specifically for kids. They absolutely will not get bored.
All villas come with a large terrace area and private plunge pool so the kids can splash about to their hearts content. You’ll reach your villa and get around the resort by golf cart which will be another big win with the kids.

The kids club at the Four Seasons
The tree house kids club is a welcoming space for those aged 4 – 12 although those under 4 can attend with a parent or nanny. The club is open between 9am and 6pm with a break for lunch at 12. It offers a wide variety of activities as well as spaces to play and relax.
Where is the Four Seasons in Koh Samui located
Situated on the North of the island The Four Seasons enjoys amazing views out to sea. From the lobby you can see across to neighbouring Koh Phangan. Yes again it’s fairly isolated but it’s meant to feel that way and it’s only a twenty minute taxi drive into Chaweng. It’s also around twenty minutes to the airport.
Avani Plus Samui £
The Avani + resort is a good one to visit with teens and tweens. Whilst it most definitely welcomes kids, it doesn’t provide a huge amount of facilities for them. Older kids however will love how very photogenic the whole hotel is.

Special features for kids at the Avani Plus Samui
Family sized rooms are available, in fact most rooms will cater for at least three adults. If you really want to treat the kids to something special then book a two bedroom beachfront pool villa, that way you can all have your own space and can step straight from your private pool to the beach. Heaven. Pool rooms also have the option of a floating breakfast, this is sure to score serious brownie points with your teens!
There are two main pools at the hotel although one is adults only. The resort offers free paddle boards and kayaks you can use to explore the surrounding mangroves and also has longtails boats you can hop on to discover some of the neighbouring islands. You can also hire pedal bikes to navigate the neighbourhood. A great way to get your bearings.
The hotel has Sunday cinema nights where the latest films are screened right on the beach and you can cosy up on comfy beanbags and enjoy toasting marshmallows over the firepit. The hotel also puts on a Friday night seafood buffet and kids will love watching the accompanying fire show on the sand.

The kids club at the Avani Plus Koh Samui
The Avani Plus does not have a kids club.
Where is the Avani + located in Koh Samui
Located on the super quiet Southwest corner of Koh Samui this is a great hotel to escape the busier parts of the island. It enjoys absolutely breathtaking sunsets and has access to a gorgeous sandy beach. There are several small restaurants and beach bar within walking distance. It’s around a 40 minute drive from the airport.
